Bred
from an early age on Nancy Drew novels, I originally planned to pursue a career
in law enforcement. But my love of books led me on a different path…and now the
only crimes I solve are on the page.
I began my career in the subsidiary
rights department of what is now Hachette Book Group, but quickly switched to
the editorial side, eventually overseeing Grand Central Publishing's legendary
(although now defunct) Mysterious Press. There, I worked with many amazing authors,
including such luminaries as M. C. Beaton, Lindsey Davis, Margaret Maron, and
Marcia Muller.
"Kristen Weber is a truly professional
editor. She treats authors with consideration and their work with care and sensitivity.
She is always prompt and responsive. You are in good hands with Kristen."

I most recently
worked as a senior editor for Penguin's New American Library (NAL), where I helped
launch Obsidian, their dedicated mystery imprint. Besides running the day-to-day
operations of Obsidian, I edited approximately 30 original titles per year. I
was also in charge of NAL's movie/television tie-in program and edited numerous
original novels based on TV programs such as Burn Notice, The Unit, Criminal
Minds, and Psych.
Crime fiction is my specialty, but I have worked
with a variety of authors in my 10+ years in book publishing, including many national
bestsellers and award winners. Please click here for
a complete list.
I earned a master's in publishing from Pace University
and have spoken extensively on the art of writing crime fiction at well-respected
writing conferences and workshops.
"Kristen Weber
was wonderful to work with. To other writers I say this: she's on your side. She's
experienced and she has people skills, she listens."

of THE LANGUAGE OF EVIL As an editor, I feel it's my job to help
authors push their own words and ideas out even further. They already have the
spark of something great…editors are there to help them make it explode.
